From gripping dramas to laugh-out-loud comedies, and everything in between, these films highlighted the best of professional and emerging and young filmmakers, all shot, edited and submitted in just 48 hours.
Taking place over the weekend of 30 November – 1 December, filmmakers converged on the Geelong region to create short 4-7 minute films that not only featured Geelong, but also included three crucial elements that were revealed at the launch of the weekend.
Filmmakers were required to incorporate the following three criteria into their films:
Line of dialogue: “I don’t know how it will work but we’re just going to do it”.
Prop: A sandwich
Location: Front Door – can be front door of anything
We were impressed with how this criteria was cleverly incorporated into the films,
All films were screened, and prizes awarded The Pivotonian Cinema, Geelong.
Open to all ages and abilities, Geelong Waterfront Film offered Awards for professional and amateur filmmakers, high school and university students and anyone with an interest in filmmaking.

Judges from the film industry, Jackson Tozer, Kel Dolen and Ryan Chamley, honoured filmmakers with various awards and the inaugural Geelong Waterfront Film – ’48 Hour Film Frenzy Laurel’.

Judges scored this film high in the ‘concept, story and creativity’ section and commended the creativity.
