Did you know that Geelong is home to one of Australia’s most acclaimed contemporary theatre companies? It’s Back to Back Theatre. And right now, local audiences have a unique opportunity to experience their work, on film, in our own backyard.
CHARGE! Agincourt, an ACMI Touring Exhibition created by Back to Back Theatre, is now showing at The Open House, Geelong Arts Centre, until 22 June 2026.
This free exhibition presents a bold and innovative screen interpretation of Shakespeare’s Henry V, reimagined through the unique lens of Back to Back Theatre’s internationally celebrated ensemble.
Filmed in Geelong’s northern suburbs during 2024, Agincourt brought together a cast and crew of more than 100 people with and without disabilities, creating a truly collaborative community production.
The story follows a group of factory workers who re-enact the famous Battle of Agincourt wearing cardboard armour. What begins as a playful interpretation evolves into a powerful exploration of war, humanity, courage and identity.
Directed by Bruce Gladwin and featuring cinematography by Rhian Hinkley, the production builds upon some of cinema’s most iconic interpretations of Henry V while offering an entirely fresh perspective. At its heart is Back to Back’s film features extraordinary ensemble of actors: Sarah Mainwaring, Simon Laherty, Scott Price, Grace Kenny, Nathan Legg and Jessica Walker.
The exhibition combines film with immersive sensory elements, including seating with embedded speakers that produce vibrations, creating a deeply engaging experience for audiences.
