CInema Spaces Documentary

Cinema Spaces

Celebrating the spaces of cinema. A feature documentary currently in development.

⭐️The atmosphere of a premiere; a first date; a moment lost in the spell of a film: cinema enchants us with the possibilities of the imagination.

But how often do we stop to notice the buildings themselves?

What draws us to certain cinemas are their stories, mysteries, and myths; and while some cinemas are thriving, others have been repurposed, divided, hidden, and lost in time.

An exciting new documentary celebrating the spaces of cinema is currently in development.

Along with Vic Screen and the City of Melbourne, Geelong Waterfront Film is proud to be assisting the documentary with a small grant.

Jacob Harris and Agatha Partyka.

“Cinema Spaces” is the brainchild of filmmaker Jacob Harris and Architect, Agatha Partyka.

A feature length documentary, Cinema Spaces will showcase the global evolution of cinema and its architecture, through the lens of Victoria, Australia.

It will feature Geelong and its community in a number of exciting ways.

We all know the Village Cinema, the beloved Pivotonian and the stunningly refurbished Palais Geelong but who remembers the Regent Theatre and the Corio Theatre?

We can’t wait for Cinema Spaces to take us on a journey over time.
