Geelong Waterfront Film held its Grand Opening Event on Friday 29th April, 2022 and according to all those who attended, it was a roaring success!
The bucketing rain did not dull the lively spirit in the room and with local legends such as Roxie Bennett as MC and The Voice finalist Michael Stangel in the room, how could it?
I was lucky enough to be the Host of the Geelong Connected Communities Red Carpet Extravaganza and the one thing that was evident from everyone that I interviewed, was that these creatives are passionate about getting the word out that Geelong is the place to be when it comes to creating films.
Local filmmakers such as Luke and Erin Saliba from Paperless Films to Producing legend John Hipwell and Geelong Arts Centre CEO and Creative Director Joel McGuinness were all on hand to watch Geelong Waterfront Film give their first grant. Deserving recipient, director Rebecca Metcalf received the funds for her short film ‘Development’.
And it wasn’t just creatives getting involved, representatives from City of Greater Geelong included Councillor Peter Murrihy who officially launched Geelong Waterfront Film.
So, spread the word: Geelong Waterfront Film is officially launched! And I personally can not wait to see what amazing movies come from Geelong and the surrounding region in the future. Watch this space!
