About Jarrah Gurrie
Jarrah Gurrie is a motion picture editor and director with decades of collaboration on projects all around the world. He started making films as part of Melbournes’ experimental film scene in the early 2000s.
In his hometown Geelong, he entered the City of Greater Geelong 24-Hr Shoot Out which was pivotal for him in kickstarting his career and led him to the prestigious New York Tisch School of Film and TV.
Jarrah relocated to the US and built editing and directing credits including “Cowboys” (Tribeca FF, Outfest), “The Chair” (Best Short SXSW, in competition at Cannes), “Hotseat” (Sundance), “The Impossibilities” (Gotham Awards, Best Shortform series nominee), “Five Dances” (Palm Springs Film Festival) and “Pete Smalls is Dead” (Slamdance). The doc series’ “Resist” (Pulse Films) and “Twiz & Tuck” for Viceland.
He has notably created multiscreen concert visuals for Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Ricky Martin and Cirque du Soleil’s MJ One residency in Vegas.
Branded work includes spots for Rare Beauty, Grown Alchemist and Visit Victoria.
He is a dual Iris Prize nominee (for his short films “These Empty Streets” and “Center of the Universe”) and is interested in stories that represent LGBTQI and culturally diverse subjects.
He is currently developing feature projects in Australia and the US and collaborating as editor on doc and narrative projects for release in 2026.
He currently lives in Geelong, Australia with his husband, daughter and dog.
