Spotlight On: Cassidy Krygger and the Magic of Love in the Moonlight
At Geelong Waterfront Film Foundation, one of the greatest joys is watching local creatives grow their ideas from concept to screen. Few people embody that journey quite like Cassidy Krygger.
A long-time Friend of Geelong Waterfront Film, Cassidy has been a great advocate for storytelling, filmmaking and creative collaboration in our region. Many film lovers recently saw her work at the sold-out REEL Film Festival screening of Daisy, an award-winning short film inspired by the true story of her great grandparents.
Now Cassidy is embarking on an exciting new creative adventure with Love in the Moonlight.
Love in the Moonlight follows a modern woman who unexpectedly falls for a charming 1950s movie star. There is, however, one small complication.
He’s a ghost.
Cassidy stars in the lead role opposite Matty Wilson, known to many Australians for his work on Neighbours. Wilson plays Jack Stirling, a charismatic screen idol whose presence blurs the lines between fantasy, nostalgia and romance.
Directed by Jonathan Zsofi, the project brings together a talented team of creatives who really have created something magic.
The recently released three-minute trailer offers audiences a glimpse into the world they are creating, blending old Hollywood glamour with contemporary romance and just the right amount of supernatural intrigue.
The trailer has already generated excitement among supporters, offering a taste of a story that feels both timeless and refreshingly original. It is the type of project that reminds us why independent filmmaking is so important. It gives creatives the opportunity to take risks, explore unique ideas and tell stories that may not fit traditional moulds.
What excites us most is that Love in the Moonlight has ambitions beyond the trailer stage. Plans are underway to further develop the project, with a feature film on the horizon.
As a Foundation dedicated to supporting screen content creation in our region, we are always excited to see local creatives thinking big and building projects with genuine audience appeal. The prospect of seeing elements of Love in the Moonlight filmed in Geelong is particularly exciting, showcasing our region’s locations, talent and production capabilities to wider audiences.
