Geelong’s own Back to Back Theatre has flipped the script – literally – with Charge! Agincourt, a powerful and wildly original screen-based reimagining of Shakespeare’s Henry V. Now open at ACMI in Melbourne, this immersive exhibition turns a gritty battlefield epic into something that’s equal parts cinematic spectacle, theatrical satire, and poignant reflection.
Located in Gallery 3 on the ground floor of ACMI at Melbourne’s Fed Square, Charge! Agincourt is running until 1 February 2026. Entry is free, and we highly recommend you take out time to see it.
So, what’s CHARGE! AGINCOURT all about?
A group of workers in a factory, (located in North Geelong), don cardboard suits of armour to re-enact the Battle of Agincourt -complete with stirring speeches, a defiant King Henry, and a hilariously chaotic flurry of (mostly) cardboard carnage.
But look beyond the humour and paper props, and you’ll find a powerful meditation on war, courage, and the identities of those we so often overlook.

Directed by Bruce Gladwin and with a production team including cinematographer/editor Rhian Hinkley, production designer Zohie Castellano, and cardboard mastermind Ross Koger (Boxwars), Agincourt blends humour, pathos, and cinematic craft.
The piece, now an ACMI Commission, is generously supported by Rachel Griffiths & Andrew Taylor, and adds to Back to Back Theatre’s expanding catalogue of daring screen-based work.
